Both intumescent paint and cementitious vermiculite spray applied coating are passive fire rated coating for steel fireproofing protection.
The intumescent paint is a thin film coating that closely resembles normal paint. It is normally provided with a top coat colour. Therefore the finishing colour can be selected to blend in with the building architectural design or interior furnishing design concept.
The cementitious vermiculite spray applied fireproofing and is a light weight texture spray finish. The lighter weight coating is better, as it has less loading onto the building structures. It is normally in concrete cement grey colour. Using cementitious vermiculite coating is a low cost fire protection as compared to intumescent.
